The expansion has also created 20 new jobs at Croxdale Group Durham

A Durham automotive specialist has invested £500,000 in its after sales service and repair centre, increasing its capacity from 10 work bays to 30 work bays – and creating 20 jobs in the process.

Croxdale Group Durham now provides servicing and repairs for all the brands in the Stellantis group which it specialises in selling, as well as MG.

Anthony Rockingham, managing director of Croxdale Group, said the investment made the automotive centre on the A167 a one-stop-shop for motorists, who now have a reliable dealership, which also offers great after care and ongoing servicing.

“We now have a huge after-sales operation for all the brands we offer, and we carry out all manufacturer-approved repairs and servicing,” he said.

“Because we have increased the capacity of our service and repair centre from 10 bays to 30 bays, our lead time is guaranteed to be less than our competitors and that is why we’ve made this significant investment in our infrastructure.

“This has also created another 20 jobs for mechanics and customer service personnel, who will enable us to provide a seamless service.”

Croxdale’s dedicated aftersales facility includes a separate service reception, workshops, bodyshop and customer lounges, to provide the best possible service and convenience.

Croxdale has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with GEMCO UK Limited, the company that has designed and fitted out its Fast Fit centres and workshop spaces since 1996.

This year, GEMCO has been involved in creating Croxdale’s new state-of-the-art workshop, which includes 17 AUTOPSTENHOJ [correct] work bays, the latest oil and lubrication distribution solution and Mondolfo Ferro tyre equipment.

Croxdale also boasts three dedicated MOT bays capable of servicing up to Class 7 vehicles, alongside 30 workshop bays for warranty repairs, routine servicing and maintenance tasks.

All this will enable Croxdale to meet demand as an authorised repairer for all Stellantis brands as well as supporting clients with the repair and maintenance of other brand vehicles.

Croxdale Group also offers a car and van rental service, with vehicles including EVs available on daily, short-term and long-term contracts.

This is proving to be extremely popular for ad hoc clients who need a vehicle for just one day, in addition to commercial customers who need to rent vehicles on a longer term basis.

Croxdale Group, based in Croxdale, Durham, just off the A167 near Thinford, has been owned by the same family since the 1940s.

Originally, during the Second World War, the business was predominantly a munitions factory responsible for the manufacturing of torpedoes.

Following the end of the war, the business diversified into using scrap metal to manufacture furniture to sell mainly in London.

Due to the huge demand, the business prospered into NESS Furniture, diversifying into all types of furniture over the years, especially high-end, bespoke pieces for large businesses.

In addition to this operation, there was an agricultural engineering business based out of what is now the aftersales reception facility.

The opportunity to take on the Citroën Franchise became available in 1967, to compliment an already growing used car sales operation – making Croxdale Group the oldest DS Citroën Dealer in the country, after it went live in 1968 with the brand.

Today, it offers a wide range of new and used cars from the Stellantis portfolio including Abarth, Peugeot and Jeep, in addition to MG motors, Peugeot, Audi, BMW and Mercedes.

While new Mitsubishi vehicles are no longer available, Croxdale Group remains an authorised repairer for these.
