Enrolment begins this week at Stockton Sixth Form College, which is celebrating a 100% pass rate for BTEC qualifications and a 98% pass rate across A-Levels in 2026.
Students looking to study on A Levels or a BTEC course can attend the college from Thursday August 20, which is also GCSE results day.
Mike Mackin, head of centre at Stockton Sixth Form College, says that whatever their results, students picking up their GCSEs this year should come along and see what’s on offer.
“At Stockton Sixth Form College, we treat every student as an individual, so whatever your results, come and talk to us about your aspirations and we can help you to find a path to where you want to be,” he said.
“We have been delighted with our A Level results and the 100% success rate of our BTEC programmes this year, as 2026 has seen our students’ grades improve year on year for three consecutive years.
“That makes Stockton Sixth Form College a great place to study, as we look to continue this upward trend into 2027 and 2028.”
The overall A Level pass rate at Stockton Sixth Form College rose to 98% this year, with the majority of the college’s A Level subjects achieving a 100% pass rate.
More than half of all A-level results (53.9%) were awarded at A*–C, while BTEC subjects once again achieved an impressive 100% success rate for the second consecutive year.
STEM and science-related subjects continued to deliver positive outcomes, further strengthening the college’s growing reputation in this important area of the curriculum.
Across Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Psychology, strong A*–B outcomes were achieved.
Further Mathematics led the way, with 50% of results at A*–B, followed by Chemistry at 45.5%, Mathematics at 40.7% and Biology at 33.3% at A* to B.
Computer Science and Psychology also contributed positively to the overall strength of performance across the STEM and science curriculum.
Pass rates were equally encouraging, with Biology, Computer Science and Further Mathematics each achieving a 100% pass rate.
This strong performance was complemented by a further 100% success rate in BTEC Engineering.
Performance at A*–C was also strong across a number of subjects. Further Mathematics achieved 100% at A*–C, while Psychology recorded 71.4%, Chemistry 63.6% and Mathematics 59.3%.
The college’s BTEC provision delivered another exceptional performance, achieving a 100% success rate for the second consecutive year across all BTEC qualification routes.
Across vocational provision as a whole, the overall pass rate reached 99%, with 49% of students achieving high grades.
Health and Social Care led the way producing outstanding results across both pathways, with 94% of Diploma outcomes and 80% of Extended Certificate outcomes achieving high grades.
This high-grade achievement was evident across the wider vocational curriculum, with 63.6% of Sport outcomes, 57% of Information Technology outcomes and 45% of Engineering outcomes achieving high grades.
Expanding its vocational curriculum, the college introduced T-Levels in Health (Adult Nursing) and Engineering (Manufacturing) at the start of the 2025/26 academic year.
The programmes have enjoyed an outstanding first year, with 100% of students successfully passing their examinations.
Speaking of this year’s exceptional results, Mike said: “To achieve improving results for a third consecutive year is a significant milestone and a strong reflection of the journey we are on as a college.
“Once again, our A-level pass rate has improved, with many subjects achieving a 100% pass rate, while our vocational provision has delivered 100% success across all BTEC programmes for the second consecutive year.
“Sustaining a 100% BTEC success rate for a second year, alongside strong outcomes across STEM subjects, is a significant achievement, which reflects both the commitment of our students and the expertise of our staff in delivering high-quality academic and vocational education that equips young people with the knowledge and skills increasingly valued by employers and the wider economy.”
In the next academic year, Stockton Sixth Form College is offering a wide range of A Levels across the creative arts, STEM, humanities and languages, social sciences and business, as well as vocational courses such as BTECs and T-Levels.
Level 2 pathways are also available for those students who need to boost their academic credentials before progressing onto A Levels or vocational courses.
